Il trabocco è un elementare macchina da pesca tipicamente usata nella tradizione pescatrice abruzzese. Il suo utilizzo risale ad epoche remote, infatti sin dal XVIII secolo i pescatori della zona si dovettero ingegnare, per ideare una tecnica di pesca che non fosse soggetta alle condizioni meteomarine della zona e che quindi, garantisse un risultato fruttuoso della pesca anche a fronte di condizioni meteo avverse. I trabocchi, infatti, permettono di pescare senza doversi inoltrare per mare sfruttando la morfologia rocciosa di alcune zone pescose della costa.
Sono costruiti con legno di pino, di cui abbonda la flora del litorale abruzzese, che permette una resistenza a lungo termine dall'erosione provocata dall'acqua salina.
