Il MU.MI. ha una storica e gloriosa struttura, inaugurata nell'immediato dopoguerra, situata a Francavilla al Mare un delizioso paese marittimo che confina con Pescara, centro commerciale e del divertimento della nostra regione.
Esso ospita il premio “Michetti” intitolato allo storico pittore e fotografo italiano (1851-1929).
Era esattamente il 1947 e l'Italia accusava le azioni nefaste della guerra e tentava lentamente e con fatica di rialzarsi, anche grazie ad iniziative artistiche e culturali come questa che servivano da collante sociale e favorivano un sentimento popolare di rinascita identitaria.
Oggi il “Museo Michetti” o MU.MI. è un edificio ristrutturato ed ampliato, che al suo interno ospita mostre, musei e naturalmente le sue sale interne sono pronte ad accogliere le coppie di novelli sposi pronte a giurarsi un amore eterno tramite un rito civile.
